Each one of us is vulnerable to acne because of hormonal changes in our body and excessive production of oil that lies under the sebaceous glands. Since acne is irritating and its presence on the skin causes itchiness and pain, we often do some self-medication which nevertheless can worsen acne. Check the list below and find out if you have committed the following mistakes:

• Washing and scrubbing acne many times in a day. Acne does not originate from dirt although it stays on the clogged skin pores resulting from overproduction of oil, it cannot be removed by washing or scrubbing. Most acne sufferers think that scrubbing it with loofah or pumice stone can eliminate the growth of acne, but to no avail. Too much washing or scrubbing can make skin dry and it is more prone to premature skin aging and it will produce skin scarring. If you feel uncomfortable without washing your face, use an acne cream instead of using astringent that will only burn your skin.

• Applying a lot of skin care products in one setting. This is a common mistake that most acne sufferers do. They become impatient with the skin care product that they are using; they drastically change them for another skin product if they cannot see good results. Some would like to see miracles by using many products at a time. If you are guilty of this mistake, stop doing it because using many skin care products can result to skin trauma. When the skin is traumatized, it burns, swells, and will result to scars. Acne cream should be used for better result.

Applying a lot of skin care products

Acne sufferers are always in a hurry to treat their acne. This is a wrong idea. Acne removal does not happen overnight. When you are using a cleanser or lotion, your skin reacts slowly and it can be repaired in several weeks to a month. Once the acne is removed, it needs more weeks to heal and removes the scarring. If you stop applying the skin care product, the treatment will be more delayed. With an acne cream, you do not need to wait for 5 to 6 weeks before your skin is healed because you can observe the changes in week’s time.

If you are in a hurry to heal your acne, you have to think that our skin is not a machine that can function and finish the action in an hour. As we aged, the skin becomes slow in healing itself. Give your skin the chance to react to the acne cream in slow but sure fashion.
